When God Shows Up

February 3, 2014 | by: Ricky Jones | 0 Comments

God powerfully blessed our baptism service yesterday. Maybe He blessed it because the service required a couple of rather huge compromises. Or maybe God moved two men to make huge compromises because he wanted to bless a service. Either way, when God shows up you are glad. ... Keep Reading

The Sobering Realities of Hell and Self-Deception

December 17, 2013 | by: Ricky Jones | 1 Comments

Jesus teaches that many who will eventually receive God's wrath will be shocked. They will not believe that they deserve it and will assume until the moment of judgement they are safe. That teaching should force us into some serious self-reflection. Don't judge yourself by your own assumptions. Would an objective by-stander say you are on the pathway of life or the path toward death?... Keep Reading

Making God Happy

November 27, 2013 | by: Ricky Jones | 0 Comments

God prescribed eating, resting and rejoicing as the best way to celebrate, and I am going to take his word for it. Plan a huge feast. Thank God in the grocery store as you shop. Thank him in the kitchen as you cook, and thank him at the table when you feast. In every step, know that when you bite that pecan pie and smile, He is smiling with you. You have blessed the Lord. ... Keep Reading

We are the children of God, secure in his love and in our inheritance. From that secure position we can see repent of our sins, and love others with a healthy independence. ... Keep Reading

Third Quarter Financial Update

October 15, 2013 | by: Michael Boyd | 0 Comments

We have moved buildings 4 times now. We have done this to have room to grow, and in doing so have taken on a greater financial burden each time. And, 2 of those times we have decided to also plant another church. So, when we moved to a bigger space, we decided to also take a portion of our congregation and move them to another church. I am not sure how that math works out, but it does. You see, God has blessed us. We plant churches to spread the gospel, we preach the gospel to reach the lost, and God blesses stuff like that. ... Positive Thinking and Remembering the Gospel

August 27, 2013 | by: Ricky Jones | 3 Comments

We need to remind ourselves daily of who we are in Christ. We need to train ourselves to believe that we are dead to sin and alive to Christ Jesus. Is that the same thing as positive thinking? Are we just supposed to stand in front of a mirror and tell ourselves how beautiful we are until we believe it? No, we are not simply boosting our self confidence. We are reminding ourselves of an objective fact: God has given up his own Son for us. ... Keep Reading
