Community Groups

What are Community Groups?

Community Groups are small groups that meet in peoples’ homes during the week to share life together and encourage each other in following Jesus. Some groups discuss books or Sunday’s sermon, some pray together, and some simply break bread together and provide a place where everybody knows your name.

Why Do We Have Community Groups?

A recent article from Harvard states that nearly 36% of Americans feel substantial loneliness most of the time. It’s an unfortunate truth that some of us grew up in broken households where we didn’t have healthy examples of how to build relationships. Conversely, some of us grew up in secure homes and had no trouble at all building relationships, but recently the busyness of adult life has made it hard to connect with others. Whatever your story, one thing is for certain – we need friendship to thrive and be our best selves. Community Groups are a great way to build a bridge to that friendship we all seek. Deep, soul-sharing friendship where we bear each other’s burdens and joys can only be built with time and intention and is not something that can be achieved only on Sunday mornings. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 encourages us not to attempt to walk this life alone. It says “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”
